With two scorching days of great weather over the weekend to end June, what’s in store weather wise for July? July is a busy month in Khao Lak, by low season standards. Our rainy peak season.
The weather forecast for the first week in July looks good but with a storm looming over on the east side of the Kra Istmus there is the chance of a storm too.

The day started off dry with some low cloud cover. As the day progressed the sky brightened and the temperature started to soar. Rare for a Saturday in Khao Lak the rains held off in the afternoon and the evening remained warm and humid.
Summary: Low 26˚ High 31˚ Rain 0.9mm Humid and overcast throughout the day.

The last day in June and Sunday was pretty much a carbon copy of the previous day. More clouds in the morning, brightening into the afternoon with some blue skies and sunshine. The general cloud cover kept the temperature lower at 31˚ though with the humidity in the air it felt much more like 36˚. High clouds and a darkening blue sky at sunset marked the end of another dry, hot day in Khao Lak.
Summary: Low 27˚ High 31˚ Rain 2mm Humid and overcast throughout the day.

The excellent weather over the weekend saw no signs of letting up as July started. Another dry, humid day. Mostly overcast in the morning and mostly blue skies and high clouds in the afternoon. A nice, balmy evening rounded off the day and our current dry spell continues.
Summary: Low 27˚ High 31˚ Rain 0.33mm Humid and mostly cloudy throughout the day.

Typically hazy skies during the dry spell
Tuesday morning was lovely. Hot and dry with blue skies all over Khao Lak. A few large white clouds drifted high in the sky while a few darker grey clouds hung over our eastern hills. By 11:00am the weather was a little more overcast and at 11:30am it rained briefly. After this short shower it was overcast and humid. An hour later and the weather was brightening again. Heading up to 3:00pm it was still overcast, but the cliuds high in the sky. It was hot but a nice cool breeze kept the temperatures bearable. Around 5:00pm low rain clouds rolled in and a mere 15 minutes later rain fell hard. 10 minutes later and it was dry again and the weather stayed this way into the evening.
Summary: Low 27˚ High 31˚ Rain 10.2mm Possible light rain in the afternoon and evening.

Hitting the mid week mark and it was an overcast wake up in Khao Lak, grey clouds hanging low over town.It was dry so far at 7:30am. The day remained overcast and grey but no rain, just a slight breeze. With a storm brewing over the northern extent of the Gulf of Thailand there came a higher chance of stormy weather in Khao Lak.
Summary: Low 26˚ High 30˚ Rain 11.8mm Possible light rain overnight and in the morning.

High cloud cover and a bit of blue
The day started as yesterday left off. Overcast with high cloud cover. It was humid but without direct sunshine and a nice breeze the temperature was not too hot. Through the morning to midday it brightened more and the sun finally came out. There was still a fair few clouds about but high in the sky. The temperature in Khao Lak was nice and hot by 3:00pm and the weather remained pretty much the same into the evening, staying nice and dry.

Khao Lak’s weather was now getting quite predictable. An overcast but bright morning and hazy over the hills. By mid morning the low cloud cover was clearing. Approaching lunch time and it was blue skies over Khao Lak. White fluffy clouds hugging the hills and bright white skies over the Andaman Sea. The afternoon was hot and sunny leading up to a nice sun set and a dry evening.
Summary: Low 26˚ High 32˚ Rain 0.14mm Humid and overcast throughout the day.
Weekly Khao Lak Weather Summary and Predictions
If you have just arrived in Khao Lak then your timing has been perfect. This has to be the best week of weather so far this low season. Glorious maybe a bit of a stretch but mostly dry and hot all week long. Peak season weather for our busiest low season month.
Great weather leads to great sun sets in Khao Lak
Thailand is the sort of place to take each day as it comes so many people wont pay any attention to the weather forecast. However if you are interested in Khao Lak’s weather for the up-coming week there could be good news. Our current hot dry spell looks all set to continue for at least another 7 days. If it is going to rain it is likely to be Friday afternoon heading into Saturday. We will see, we do not always get it perfect 😉
